Who should I vote for in the 2026 local elections?

This matches your priorities to the manifestos, not to a party. You'll answer 14 questions, drawn at random from a larger set each time, about what matters most to you locally. We then show which parties' manifestos make the most concrete pledges on those topics, ranked by how well they match your priorities, not by political alignment. This is not a voting recommendation.

Deciding who to vote for in the 2026 local elections

South Africa’s local government elections are on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. You’ll be voting for the people who run your municipality: who fixes the roads, keeps the water and electricity on, collects refuse and manages your rates. So the most useful question is which party actually plans to deal with the problems in your area.

How this quiz works

You answer 14 short questions, drawn at random from a larger set, about what matters most to you locally, across 13 topics such as housing, water, electricity, safety and jobs. The quiz then shows which parties’ manifestos make concrete, matching pledges on those topics, each with the page it comes from. It doesn’t rank parties by politics, and it isn’t a voting recommendation.

Parties covered

The quiz covers the 17 parties whose manifestos we could find. For each, that’s its 2026 local government manifesto, or its most recent one where marked. Read any party’s plans topic by topic:

Questions

Is this quiz biased towards any party?
No. It shows which parties' manifestos most concretely address the priorities you pick, using only what the manifestos say. It doesn't favour or promote any party, and parties aren't ranked by political alignment. The choice is yours.
Where do the results come from?
Only from the parties' own manifestos: their 2026 local government manifestos, or their most recent one where marked. Every match is a real pledge from a manifesto, with the page it appears on.
Do I need to sign up?
No. There are no accounts. The quiz is free and takes a few minutes.
When are the 2026 local government elections?
